Survey Results and Analytics

38.7% of people who participated in the survey could not answer the simple question: What is AI ethics? One of the participants answered: Restrictions on what AI can do. It's like soft laws for AI. Just like engineers have a code of ethics to follow or else they get in trouble or are considered unprofessional since breaking that code of ethics means you're doing something wrong or harmful with your knowledge, licenses, authority, etc.

When asked: Should the government regulate AI, one of the participants answered maybe: The government needs to represent an accurate representation of the world we live in which is ethnically and racially diverse.

This survey has given us a greater understanding of how the public, from all backgrounds, views AI (or the lack of understanding) and what they think about the application of regulation from the government, or the FAIA.

To respond to the latter response: The FAIA would be run by people of all different social classes, races, ethnicities, genders, sexuatlities, etc. This way, there will be significantly less bias in AI and lower chances of people being negatively impacted by AI! In addition, the public has access to this website which has an “Additional Resources” section. In that, you’ll find Youtube Videos and articles explaining in detail why AI Bias is an issue, what other countries have done, what is AI, ect. This way, there’s an easy way for people to educate themselves in one place. Also, if you navigate to the “Sectors” section, there you will find what the FAIA is planning to do with AI Bias in each sector. Sectors include the Criminal Justice System, Healthcare, Transportation, and many others!
